Pair also known as PairNetworks is one of the oldest web hosting companies. It has been around from 1996 and their servers' uptime is reckoned as one of the highest in the web hosting industry. It's a big company, with a lot of experience.

"I use pair Networks and they are good. They tell the truth, the[y] alert you on planned maintenance before and after it is done. Also pair has been around for almost eight years (they are old-timers in this industry). You may want to look at the monthly specials. Many times the setup fee for the account is waived and the first domain setup is waived at times too. The price per month indicates on pages include the $1 per month fee for the first domain. For the month of April, with Webmaster accounts and higher the setup fee for the account and the first domain is waived. Also for the month of April there is triple discounting for prepay by quarter (6% off) semi-annual (12% off) annual (24% off). They also have a refugee special, you have to enter "web hosting refugee" in the comments section at signup, and in that case they will waive setup fees for your first account and virtual domain."

My comments: This thread will allow you to see that pair is one of the biggest hosting companies and also one of the best, with very few unsatisfied customers, which, considering their size, is kind of a miracle :-)

"From my experience with them so far I can say that I seriously doubt I will ever need to find another host. These guys have their act together and they know what they are doing. I'm so impressed with this host that I can't even find words to do my feelings justice. I just don't know how anyone could do it better than pair. I could go on and on about all the things I'm impressed with but I'm sure most of you already know how good they are. If you haven't seen them and you need to find another host (or a new host) you owe it to yourself to check them out."

"I am running a site for a customer that is hosted on pair since November-2002 and have seen downtimes adding upto around 20 minutes since then. So they can be called very reliable. Overall one of the best host if you are looking to host your sites only and not resell hosting."

My comments: This certainly doesn't sound good, but, as HRBrendan (the owner of HostRocket) puts it:

"Do a search [on WHT] for people saying bad things about Pair, then take into account the fact that they have more customers that most other hosts you know combined, and that definitely should tell you something about the level of service they provide."

Pair is a fabulous host. I've hosted several domains with them, and they had amazing (and amazingly informative) service. They do things well, and don't tend towards a method of working that minimizes possible catastrophes. They aren't cheap. But they're worth every dollar (and probably a few more).
